Fasting is a ceremony that has been practiced in many First Nation communities for thousands of years. In the past, the Elders of a community would provide the ceremonial setting and guide the faster in their quest to find their direction in life
Provide students with an opportunity to form groups to discuss how they would feel or react if someone tried to govern or tell them what religion they were required to practice.
Students will be able to review various case studies regarding water issues of First Nation people. Students will be able to identify water issues within the media and provide classroom with current events and facts regarding water in their area.
Ask the students to look at the current media (news reports, newspapers) for any stories or events regarding water. This could be as varied as floods, draughts, Tsunami, hydro electricity and water sports.
