There’s a new leader at Brown and Caldwell. Vice-president Dave Bergdolt has been promoted to Western Canada area leader, according to a news release. Bergdolt brings three decades of water and wastewater infrastructure and treatment expertise to the position, which will be “key in helping the region overcome environmental and water-related challenges,” reads the release. He started with Caldwell about 15 years ago and has overseen numerous projects including wastewater facility expansions, water quality improvements and sewer system rehabilitation.
Work to begin on water quality improvements at Victoria General Hospital
Health Minister Michelle Thompson says work will begin next week to improve the water quality at the Victoria General Hospital so people can take showers at the ailing Halifax site that was supposed to be demolished this year. Repairs will start on the fifth floor of the Centennial Building, which houses cancer patients and others requiring hospitalization. A localized water treatment and hot water on-demand system that is safe for immunocompromised patients will be installed.
Perpetua Resources Completes Initial Stream Diversion Activities Contributing to Water Quality Improvements at Historic Mine Site
Perpetua Resources Corp. (Nasdaq: PPTA) (TSX: PPTA) ("Perpetua Resources" or "Perpetua" or the "Company") announced today the summer 2022 field program to initiate water quality improvements in the historical Stibnite mining district is complete. After 100 years of mining activity, the millions of tons of unconstrained tailings and mine waste left behind by previous operators has been degrading water quality for decades. Perpetua was granted permission to take action to address the most pressing water quality concerns through an agreement signed in 2021 between the Company, the Environmental Protection Agency ("EPA") and the United States Department of Agriculture ("USDA").
FCM invests in water quality improvements in Eastern Canada
An investment of $104,800 will be made to help reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and improve water quality in St. John’s and Corner Brook in Newfoundland and Labrador, thanks to the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ (FCM) Green Municipal Fund (GMF). The announcement was made July 20 by Minister of Natural Resources Seamus O’Regan Jr. and FCM president Joanne Vanderheyden.
