A lack of communication between a private water testing firm for Wellington on the Lake and Prince Edward County has caused confusion for residents of a Wellington housing development. Thursday afternoon the county issued a warning that someone was going door to door telling people in the Wellington on the Lake housing development that a boil water advisory was in effect and the county issued a press release saying the advisory was a scam. However, Thursday evening before 9 o’clock, the county issued another release saying that a boil water advisory was in fact in effect. Wellington on the Lake is a separate drinking water system that receives water from the Wellington Drinking Water System.
Nova Scotia man constructs wetland on his property in tribute to his first love
When he first started, Perkins admits he got into trouble with provincial and municipal officials who he says were worried about the volume of water on his land. Jonathan Platts with Ducks Unlimited Canada works with landowners who want to build wetlands from scratch, as Perkins has done. "Constructed wetlands, starting them from scratch, and doing them right, I think you can still have very productive wetlands and ones that can certainly compliment your property and help wildlife," said Platts, who lives on P.E.I. and is the new head of wetland restoration for Ducks Unlimited in Atlantic Canada.

Work will soon begin on the Wellington elevated water storage tank. Council awarded the contract to Landmark Structures Co. on Tuesday night during their regular council meeting for the construction of an elevated water storage tank and bulk water filling station at a cost of $9,002,000. This is over-budget by almost $1 million and the budget increase of $992,772.15 will be funded by long-term debt.
