Kristen Villebrun and Wendy Bush hoped they wouldn't have to pray for Chedoke Creek, but four years after they first raised alarm about the water's condition, they were part of an Indigenous full moon ceremony to do just that. About 50 people showed up near Princess Point on the dark and frigid Monday evening for the monthly ceremony, which was particularly special as it focused on Chedoke Creek. The body of water that runs into Cootes Paradise had about 24 billion litres of sewage and storm water runoff leak into it due to a gate being left open.

The North End Development project will see the municipality lead the creation of new building lots, located within walking distance of downtown. As part of this project, municipal water and wastewater services will be extended to properties in the area, ensuring sustainable local services for current and future residents. Recently, a project milestone was achieved with the awarding of a contract for the engineering work. Upon completion this will encompass residential building lots and over 200 metres of freshwater lines and sewer mains, accompanied by well designed roads and ditches.

It calls for transformative change, innovation, and proper accounting for the value of nature across all sectors. The Governments of Canada and Yukon are committed to working together to protect and conserve biodiversity, habitat, and species at risk in the Yukon. This will contribute to the goal of protecting 25 per cent of land and fresh water in Canada by 2025 and 30 per cent by 2030.
